(D-86) Stand firm with your Feet...from the Gospel of Peace

(Ephesians 6:15)

Before we go somewhere, we have to prepare to dress and equip ourselves for the occasion, climate and terrain. If we are going downtown, we are not going to put on our mountain climbing boots, leather shorts, backpack and climbing gear. If we are going into the jungle swamps, we will not wear arctic parka, insulated long underwear and snowshoes. The same kind of preparation is required for the spiritual battle. In order for us Christians to be able to stand firm in a battle, we need wear shoes well fitted. Moreover, the shoes must be able to grip the ground so that we do not be moved in a combat.

Roman soldiers wore boots well fitted to their feet and with nails in them to grip the ground in combat. Even with such shoes put on, we may not be able to say we are fully ready for the battle. The scripture tells us that such readiness comes from the gospel of peace.
The gospel pertains to the good news that, through Christ, we believers are at peace with God and He is on our side. (Romans 5:6-10) It is that confidence of divine support which allows us the believers to stand firm in the spiritual combat, knowing that we are at peace with God, and thus God is our strength.

Please pray that:
* we always remember that we are at peace with God through Jesus Christ
* we need to put on well fitted shoes for any spiritual battle with readiness that comes only from the gospel of peace
* we put on such shoes all the time whenever we are in spiritual battle
Praise the Lord who put us into peace with God the Father Almighty! May we be ready for any spiritual battle with the gospel of peace put on! - Jeffrey
