(D-65) A way to lend to the Lord...

God is almighty. He created the heaven and earth, and everything in between. Thus he owns everything in the universe. He does not need any help from others. He is omnipotent as well as omniscient and omnipresent.

But the scripture says there is a way to lend to the Lord.

"He who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward him for what he has done." (Proverbs 19:17)

I understand it does not mean that the Lord actually needs something from us, but rather He wants us to be sensitive to the needs of the poor and be kind to them. This is not the only passage that talks about the instruction to be kind to the poor, but it illustrates well to be suitable for the commercialized oriented world. It is like lending to the Lord to be kind to the poor.

Please pray that:

* we will truly understand the heart of the Lord for the poor;
* we will genuinely bear the same heart that the Lord has for the poor; and
* we will truthfully be kind to the poor in His name and in the way He has done.

May the Lord be highly praised for His concern for the poor and the underprivileged! - Jeffrey
